MASON CITY, IA---The Red Cross is helping a Mason City woman with shelter after a fire forces her from her home.On Sunday evening, Mason City Firefighters were called to a reported house fire at 1820 4th Street Southwest, at 9:40 p.m. Firefighters found Tricia F
risby outside her single level home and saw heavy black smoke coming out the front door.
Lieutenant Dave Orr said the fire was in the kitchen.
The fire marshal determined it was caused by cooking material left unattended on the stove.
The flames burned the kitchen cupboards above the stove and left smoke damage throughout the house.
No one was hurt.
The Red Cross is assisting Frisby with a hotel room.
