MASON CITY, IA - Several congressional candidates were in North Iowa Tuesday night to send their message to the voters.
"I am more knowledgeable on economic issues than any of the other democratic candidates,” said democrat Tom Fiegen, “I'm also more knowledgeable on economic issues than Chuck Grassley."
The bankruptcy lawyer and former economics professor is one of three democrats running against Senator Charles Grassley.
He says a lot of small businesses are still struggling and he wants to represent them in Washington.
He met with visitors at NIACC on Tuesday night along with one of his opponents, former legislator Bob Krause.
Krause also stressed economic issues to the folks on hand.
"In the next ten years, 1 out of every 4 existing American jobs will go overseas,” said Krause. “Now, that's in addition to what we've already lost. We can't afford to do this anymore."
Krause is also stressing healthcare and veterans affairs in the race.
Former US Attorney Roxanne Conlin is also on that ticket, but was not at the event.
However, joining the senate candidates was house candidate Bill Maske.
"There’s too much gamesmanship going on in Washington,” said the democrat. “We need leaders who know what they stand for, and leaders that are going to truly represent the people that send them to Washington."
Maske has served as a school superintendent for more than thirty years.
He'll challenge incumbent Representative Tom Latham.
