OWATONNA, MN--Our Nation's Capitol held a moving national prayer breakfast this morning, hosted by the husband of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords is still weighing on the minds of many, after being shot in Tucson nearly a month ago.

Her friend, and Southern Minnesota Representative, Tim Walz continues to hold "Congress on Your Corner" stops, just like Giffords had.

Amongst the shuffle of carts, grocery shoppers and curious voters line up to hear from their Representative.

"I think the economy is still it, they want to talk about jobs."

It was this same scene that changed things forever for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

Rep. Tim Walz says, "Our hearts and prayers haven't strayed far from Representative Giffords since we've since this has happened. We're good friends, Mark is a good friend."

Keeping people safe is now a heightened message.

Walz feels, "We just evaluate the risks that are there, and I've always said, the added tragedy in Tucson was the public coming, the little girl and you know families, they're here today. These are the very same people."

But those very important voter's messages can't get lost either.

Richard Hackerson from Owatonna says, "One of my issues today was to talk about this Highway 14 corridor, and how to get some action and get it done. Just because it's still a death trap."

Hackerson says its important for people to feel safe, but not stop living and get make voice heard. "There are some crazies out there, and regardless of how well you try to prepare, things are going to happen."

Rep. Walz says people overwhelmingly want to talk about jobs but throughout Southern Minnesota there is economic optimism.

He also says spring flooding has been a common concern.
