CRESCO, IA - A local group is showing kids in need, just how much their community cares this holiday season.

Several volunteers in Cresco make up the C.A.R.E. program; that's “Communities about Reaching Everyone.”

The group formed in 2007 to help children whose families can't afford things like school supplies and clothes, and this year, they're making sure that those kids get a merry Christmas too.

"Right now, we're at about, roughly 60 families,” said C.A.R.E. member Kim Soukup, ”and the we provide gifts for the children and clothing items."

C.A.R.E. works with community action to find the families in need.

If you're in the Howard County area and would like to donate to the cause, you can put new, unwrapped toys and items in any of the C.A.R.E. boxes around Cresco.
