Scotty Frank is not able to make it home to Kansas City. His car suffered a snow related accident Sunday evening at a stop light in Mason City. He's stuck here while his car is in the shop.
"The roads were pretty snow covered and you couldn't see the lanes, it was just a big mess in Mason City."
Frank is staying with friends until someone can come and pick him up. He's a little frustrated his car is out of commission.
"My dad is taking it back to Missouri so it's going to be a while before I see my car in tact again."
Snow storms are causing many problems for folks in North Iowa. Ryan Knoll of Hawkeye Auto Body says on a normal day he writes eight to ten car estimates, but on snow days that number doubles.
"The first week of last month with ice and we were writing on average 15 to 20 a day."
Bumpers are their most common repair and the easiest way to get a cracked bumper is not by hitting another car.
"People slide into what they think is a snow bank and is actually ice. We get a lot of cracked bumpers that way, we've had quite a few this month."
