AUSTIN, MN--A local sports team is helping out the food bank in a major way.
Austin's Salvation Army picked up 2,600 lbs. of foods from the Austin Bruins NAHL hockey team, and IBI Data's Saturday food drive.
Fans brought in the goods on the way to their game.
The Salvation Army says with bills on the rise, they're seeing more and more people coming to get food to offset other rising costs.
Lt. David Amick with the Salvation Army says shelves aren't as stocked as they were, "It's low right now and everything that we can, every little bit helps and this is a lot more than a little bit! So we're really appreciative of what they've done for us".
The Bruins say they like giving back to the community that gives so much to them.
They're planning another food drive this spring.
