Volunteers in Mason City were out Saturday trying to spruce up some street curbs.
New yellow paint was put on the curbs surrounding the Mason City police station. The old paint was faded and chipped away to the point where it was no longer visible. Volunteers say the project was long overdue, and is a way to give back to the community.
"We moved back here about five years ago and we like the little small town and thought we'd give a little bit back. It’s good karma," said Doug Montgomery.
The Mason City Volunteer Program has also put in benches at area parks and painted curbs at the Mason City High School.
