GARNER, IA- Iowa secretary of agriculture Bill Nor they is talking with people in Hancock County.

he meeting room is a little emptier than usual because many farmers are out in the fields. The major issue is how budget cuts could impact the Department of Agriculture. Northey says they are looking at many layoffs within the next year.

nother big concern is the late harvest and how that is affecting farmers.Northey says farmers always make it through but they need to be more careful.

ill Northey says, "we have a few good days of weather and it's very tempting to work half way through the night or all the way through the night, so folks need to be careful."

his stop is part of Northey's plan to visit all 99 counties this year.
