Greene, IA- At least six homes were evacuated after an anhydrous leak in Greene, IA.

Floyd County Emergency Management Coordinator Bridgett Moe says it happened at a farmer coop at 2081 Floyd Line Street.  That’s just on the north side of the Floyd/Butler County border.

Moe says at least six homes were evacuated.  The Waterloo Hazmat Team was also standing by as fire crews from Greene, Allison, and Marble Rock hauled in water by tanker truck.

Moe says with an anhydrous leak, emergency workers have to dump water on the chemicals and contain where it flows to prevent contamination.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office reported early Wednesday morning that the evacuation was over.  Moe is thanking wind out of the south for helping keep evacuations to a minimum.

The operation took several hours to completely off load the anhydrous tank.
