AUSTIN, Minn.- A study from Hormel Foods suggests one out of every four Americans has made a choice between buying food and paying their bills in the last year.
The 2010 Hormel Hunger survey also shows people are less willing to donate to food banks.
\This is the fifth annual survey released by the Austin food giant.
Workers tell us the recession is making people more aware of hunger.
"The need has never been greater, the research that we have shows that the recession has had a real impact on people seeking help, as far as hunger goes food banks, food shelves, so it's really never been more important for people to make those donations or to volunteer," said Hormel Vice President of Communications Julie Craven.
Craven says they will distribute the results of the survey to food banks nationwide to help spread awareness of the need.
