MASON CITY, IA - The United Way of North Central Iowa is celebrating a successful end to their 2011 campaign.
The United Way set a goal of $1.1 million, but they raised $60,000 above that.
The extra money will be reinvested back into the various community agencies united way supports. That includes education and child development programs.
“Poverty rates to child abuse rates to our literacy rates and working to invest those dollars back into those programs that are helping kids learn to read and reduce those child abuse rates,” said Emily Willett.
Last year the United Way came just short of hitting their goal. The 2012 campaign kicks off in August.
