MASON CITY,IA-Mason City police say someone has been stealing fuel from cars in town.
Now, a Rockwell man has been arrested for stealing gasoline directly from vehicles.
Investigators say they caught 30-year old Clinton Janssen siphoning fuel from a van parked behind Napa auto-parts late last night.
Turns out, there have been several reports of stolen fuel from businesses on the west side and police believe they are linked to Janssen.
Lt. Ron Vandeweerd says, “So we have been having that place under watch basically having the beat officers keep a close eye on it, check it out and they were doing that last night and caught a subject pretty much in the act of stealing the gas.”
Janssen faces two charges of tampering with a motor vehicle and theft.
He has been released from jail.
