The Albert Lea Salvation Army was out assisting people with storm damage to their homes Sunday afternoon.
Crews went from house to house giving water and food to people cleaning up their yards. They say it's a small way to do a little something extra for the residents.
The Salvation Army Captain says the crews have trained extensively for this, but never thought they would be deployed to their own community.
"We just, including myself, never thought that we'd be doing our own community, so it creates a whole new challenge for our volunteers and for the leadership. Because we live here, it's hard to detach," said Captain James Brickson. "It was nice to be able to see our guys that we've been training for years now to be able to handle something like this.”
