MASON CITY, IA - A local county's free health clinic has been helping folks in the area for more than two years, but now they’re hoping for a little holiday help.
The Cerro Gordo County Free Clinic opened in 2009. They provide care for several hours on Saturday and rely on volunteer doctors and nurses, as well as money donations for supplies and medication.
This holiday season they're in need of both.
Amy Fleming, who is the Board President for the Clinic says, "Just within the last year we've helped 700 patients who have come through the door and we've filled more than 1,000 prescriptions. So we know there's a need and we know we're definitely helping people in the community."
Even if you are not a doctor or a nurse and would like to donate your time, the staff at the clinic can find a volunteer job for you.
