MASON CITY, IA - It may be time for carols and presents, but for some the sounds and sights of the holidays make them feel left out.
It's called the “holiday blues.”
Local Priest and mental health counselor Father Michael Schueller tells us some people may have lost a family member or no longer have their kids living nearby. So at a time when folks are expected to be happy they're not.
"People gathering together and family gathering, all these social gatherings. They may feel they're left out."
Father Schueller says one of the best ways to combat the “holiday blues” is to get involved in your community. Or he says, take a stroll around the mall and just be in the presence of other people.
