CARPENTER, IA - Some local folks are turning a hobby into a good cause.

Scrapbookers from all over Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota came together on Saturday for the 4th annual Crop for a Cure.

It's a fundraiser that benefits Lyle Area Cancer,a group that raises money for cancer research.

Organizers said the event continues to grow each year.

"We thought, we'd get a few people together. And the first year, we thought we'd be lucky to get 20 people and we had 84 respond and we've been full ever since," said Crop for a Cure organizer Jill Patterson.

Last year, Crop for a Cure raised over $6,000 dollars.

Besides scrapbooking, the event also includes a garage sale and a silent auction.
