MASON CITY, IA - It's time again for flu shots. The Center for Disease Control is asking Public Health to get folks vaccinated as soon as they get the shot and mist.
It's available a little earlier this year, and Betty Krones with disease prevention tell us it's because the flu can start showing up as early as October.
"It does take a couple weeks for the vaccine to take effect. So we're trying to get it out to the public now so in case we do see flu in October we got our people covered."
This year Public Health is also offering to file insurance for the flu shot. Before, folks had to file on their own. They'll start offering the flu vaccine on Monday.
