Those who give to others normally don't look for any recongnition.

KIMT News 3 and First Citzen's National Bank are honoring a Riceville woman who goes above and beyong for her community.

Darcy Fair nominated Elaine Govern for the Volunteer of the Month Award.

Fair says, "she's just a kindhearted modest person, who doesn't like to take a lot of credit for the things that she does for the community, but is definitely a deserving person."

Elaine Govern moved to Ricevill in 1964, and hasn't left since.

Govern says, "the people of this town is the reason we've stayed because they're very good hearted people and they're the salt of the earth."

She's been pretty busy too.

She's worked with delevoping the trail, the library, and organizing the farmer's market.

Govern says her favorite part about the farmer's market is all the people who gather to talk.

Fair says, "she's just a person who puts in a ton of time and volunteers and feels that riceville is a place that's worth while and she puts in her time to prove that to people."
