MASON City- Kindergarten can be a scary time for many young kids. The first time in a classroom, meeting new people, and for some…the first time away from home. This Difficult transition is a lot easier for students at Newman Elementary thanks to Laura Doerfler.
“It’s important to help them learn and grow,” Doerfler says, “especially this age; they come into kindergarten not knowing a whole lot sometimes.”
Doerfler has been teaching at Newman for several years now. Her ability to make learning fun keeps the kids wanting to come to class each day.
“Our day’s very busy but we have lots of fun learning, that’s the important thing.”
It’s devotion to her class that makes Mrs. Doerfler loved by her students. Her caring approach and the individual attention she gives to each child makes going to kindergarten an unforgettable experience.
Doerfler says, “It’s not a job to me, I just really enjoy teaching, I come to school and its fun to try new things and watching them learn.”
