Health educators are seeing more and more cases of teen pregnancy in Northern Iowa.

Pam Erickson at North Iowa Community Action says girls, sometimes as young as fourteen are finding their way to their office asking for help.

Erickson says one of the problems is that schools aren't able to educate teens on the issues because they don't have the money to bring someone in.

Erickson says, some girls don't realize teen pregnancy has serious consequences.

“There are those few girls that are extremely excited to be pregnant because this is a way they're going to get attention from friends and it's going to fill some sort of need in their life, and babies can't do that"

She says they provide many services at North Iowa Community Action, as well as family planning. All their services are confidential.
