Matt Biermann
Sports Anchor/Reporter
Matt Biermann joined the KIMT Sports Staff in August of 2010 as the Weekend Anchor/Reporter.
He spent the past eight years in Southern Illinois.
He comes from WSIL-TV 3 in Carterville, where he was a Sports Reporter/Anchor.
Matt is already familiar with a few teams in the North Iowa area such as the UNI Panthers. That's because he's a Saluki! He graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2007, where he majored in Radio/TV.
There he worked at the student run TV station, River Region, and was part of the nation's best student newscast. While in school Matt also was named best student Sports Reporter by the Illinois Broadcasters Association. At SIUC, Matt was everything from a TV Play-by-Play and Sideline Reporter for SIU Men's Basketball telecasts, to News Reporter and Sports Director.
Matt has had the privilege of covering a wide variety of sporting events, from Sweet 16 runs by the Southern Illinois Saluki Basketball team, to bull riding, and State Bass Fishing titles.
He was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. So naturally he's a fan of all its professional sports teams. But most of all he's a Cardinals fan. Some of Matt's other favorite teams are the Missouri Tigers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Matt's favorite sports memories that he has witnessed in person include the St. Louis Cardinals winning the 2006 World Series and Mark McGwire breaking Roger Maris's home run record in 1998.
In his time away from KIMT Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, watching sports, and cooking. If you see him out, don't be afraid to say hi.
