Kayla Joined the KIMT News Staff as the 5pm producer in January of 2010.She was born and raised in Cedar Falls, IA. She attended Cedar Falls High School, where she was involved in Drama and Speech, Choir, Band, Model United Nations, and played for the Girls Golf Team. After graduating high school, she attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA.She had originally planned to attend school to go into international law.
However, she got involved with the college television station, and decided the news business was for her.Kayla double majored in Spanish and media studies. For her Spanish major, she studied abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain.After studying aboard, she liked the idea of being a correspondent journalist.
Kayla was very active in Loras College Television.She was a news and sports reporter, and also got to anchor the news. Her favorite memory was commentating color for Loras Basketball games.
She also was lucky to have two news internships through college.She worked in a Dubuque bureau for a summer and fall semester.
Kayla also interned at a different Cedar Rapids affiliate her last semester of college.
In her free time she loves to run, go for walks, read, and attend movies.
Kayla is a very active person so you are more then likely to see her doing something outdoors.
