Gwen Siewert joined the KIMT News 3 team in June of 2009.
She was born and raised in southeastern Minnesota in rural Zumbro Falls, MN (population
177!) and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City, MN. Her love for television
news started basically from birth, she says her parents watch every newscast possible
throughout the day. Her curiosity for the career field was realized while attending
St. Cloud State University.
Gwen became active in the school’s TV station, UTVS, right away her freshman year
working on an entertainment show. She spent her last two years as the station’s
News Director. She also anchored, produced, and reported for the live newscasts,
and assisted classes while there, as well as doing almost every technical position.
Gwen also was the Associate Producer for Husky Productions, airing live all men’s
St. Cloud State home hockey games.
While in college, she was a part of winning two regional Emmy’s for UTVS News
and is also a personal two-time Eric Sevareid Journalism award winner.
Gwen graduated from SCSU in 2009 with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and
Spanish, and a minor in Geography.
In summer of 2008 she had an internship at a television station in Rochester,
MN.
In her free time Gwen loves cooking and trying new things. Her favorite place
in the world is the zoo, she loves animals. Hanging out with her sister and friends,
taking pictures, sports, playing tennis, traveling and anything cultural are also
passions.
She is excited to be living in Southern Minnesota, along with delivering the kind
of news that is important to the Midwest people she grew up with and loves.
