Phone Company Announces Iowa Wireless Expansion Associated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - AT&T Inc. says it plans to spend $15 million this year to expand its cellular telephone system in Iowa.  The company announced Wednesday that it plans to improve its higher speed wireless network to the Davenport, Des Moines and Cedar Rapids areas.

The higher speed system allows wireless customers to access videos, games and pictures. It enables faster laptop computer connections giving customers the ability to send and receive larger files and provides improved connections to the Internet and other services.

The company also plans to upgrade emergency generators to improve operation during power outages.  This year's planned investment would bring AT&T's three-year wireless network investment in Iowa to more than $45 million.
