MASON CITY, IA - It's the time of year when your trash becomes your neighbor's treasure.

Betty Nielsen commented, "oh it's been fantastic!  We have found some really, really good deals."

It's Mason City's city-wide garage sale weekend, and some people will do just about anything for a deal.  Nielsen drove all the way from Missouri to find the best bargains.  She's going home with a van full of all kinds of "knick-knacks".

Others are in search of high-ticket items.  Jeremy True says he hit the streets right after work this morning.  He's on the hunt for a new lawn mower.  True thinks he knows the best way to find what he's looking for, and some things he didn't even realize he needed.

"Just see where all the cars are at, the ones that don't have too many I don't usually stop," True shared.

There are hundreds of sales going on all over the city, and many of them continue through Sunday.  If you don't find everything you're looking for, you can head up to Lake Mills next weekend for their city-wide garage sale.
